The 11th International Conference on Business, International Relations and Diplomacy (ICOBIRD)

In celebrating the 10^th Anniversary of International Relations Study Program, BINUS University, the Department will organize a conjoint event: the 11^th International Conference on Business, International Relations, and Diplomacy (ICOBIRD) and the Journal of ASEAN Studies 1^st International Symposium. The 11^th ICOBIRD will invite undergraduate students from universities at home and abroad to present at the. This year, the Conference will focus on the wider theme “Contemporary Changes in World Order”. In the last couple of decades, we have witnessed many events that completely changed our view on international politics and world order. From the turbulent situation in many parts of the world, financial and economic crises, the emergence of disruptive technological innovation, to the current COVID-19 pandemic that turning the world upside down. We would like to see how students view these everchanging world from theoretical and practical perspectives.

Aim and Scope

Given the background above, this year conference’s theme is “Contemporary Changes in World order”. The conference has the main three objectives to achieve:

First, this conference will discuss contemporary changes in the world order due to the disruptive ages that was triggered by disruptive technological innovation that leads to the digitalization of state interaction and market activities. Secondly, it will also highlight the response of the state, market, and society to the challenges bought by the world order. Finally, it will examine the impacts and consequences of this contemporary for Business, International relations, and Diplomacy at large.

The conference is then organised as a collection of a variety of workshops and presentations ranging from theoretical papers to case studies on the states’ exercises in managing the digitalization in IR, minimizing the risks, and maximizing the opportunities of digital powers in international relations.  Hence, we are particularly interested in having more presenters from outside BINUS so that there is an exchange of ideas. Moreover, among outcomes of the conference are networking and some publications which are indexed in Scopus from the selected papers as a part of the special issue in Journal of ASEAN studies, and some selected paper will be published in proceeding indexed in Scopus such as IEOM community. Secondly our target for this conference is undergraduate students’ symposium that can gather the students from the Departments of International Relations from National as well as international universities and their papers will be published in the form of edited book.

The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated both technological and social trends in today’s world. It allows people to invent, innovate, and re-design to accommodate human needs in post-pandemic era. Without compromising tomorrow’s exigencies, ICOBAR 2022 highlights the importance of designing a future fit for humanity by embracing and driving sustainable innovations. Such innovation may be incremental, alternative, or even disruptive technology which help us to attain the same goal that we proposed in the previous ICOBAR series, “biospheric harmony”.

  The International Conference on Eco Engineering Development (ICEED 2017) goal is to provide the knowledge enrichment and innovative technical exchange between International researchers/scholars and practitioners from the academia and industries in the field of ecological engineering as listed at the related topic of interests.

  This year marks a decade of International Conference on Business, International Relations, and Diplomacy (ICOBIRD). The conference has been organised by the Department of International Relations at Bina Nusantara (BINUS) University as part of BINUS Joint International Conference (BJIC). The year of 2021 also marks a year on the COVID-19 pandemic, a health crisis that has brought multiple effects on almost all lines of international politics.

  On one hand, illiberal turn and the rise of populism in democracy are troubling developments that occur in multiple countries today. On the other hand, public diplomacy and foreign policy had been changing to adapt with these shared challenges in mitigating the spread of the disease. International business chains, in particular, have been disrupted due to lockdown policies in numerous countries. Furthermore, regionalism and global health governance are under scrutiny as to how these forums should ensure access to vaccines. The global architecture might require countries to change their strategic approach in dealing with pandemic as a human security threat.

  With this background, the 10th International Conference on Business, International Relations, and Diplomacy (ICOBIRD) will be held online under the theme “Surviving the Pandemic and the Shift in Global Architecture”. This conference offers rigorous and readable examinations of a wide range of international politics which are both of academic interest and policy relevance. It invites authors across the globe to submit their papers which engage with ICOBIRD’s core theme and topics.

International Conference on Biospheric Harmony Advanced Research (ICOBAR) 2020

The 2^nd International Conference on Biospheric Harmony Advanced Research was held on 23-24 June 2019 in Jakarta. The conference successfully brought together academia and researchers to discuss the issue of biospheric harmony in the ecosystem. To continue past discussion and results from the first conference, the 2020 ICOBAR will be hosted on 23-24 June 2020.

Binus University will host the 2nd International Conference on Biospheric Harmony Advanced Research (ICOBAR 2020) at Binus Anggrek Campus, Jakarta. With the aim to promote the notion of “biospheric harmony” as a concept to highlight the efforts to live in harmony with the environment in the human-dominated era, the ICOBAR 2020 invites scientific papers from domestic and international speakers and participants.

The committee welcomes researchers and practitioners from academia, industries, research institutions, R&D enterprise services, and governmental organizations to exchange innovative ideas and contribution around the conference topics. Submitted papers should be an original and unpublished work from individuals which theme should match with the topics set in the conference. In addition, papers should be between five to eight pages in length including figures, tables, references, and appendices.

Science and technology have changed how people live. The digital technology has influenced the way people think, learn, and make decisions. Technology has also changed jobs and lifestyles of people around the world. There are jobs which no longer exist in the next ten years. At the same time, new jobs occur which have never existed before. This phenomena must be responded by teachers and education practitioners in the world.

Indonesia, which has more than 250 million people, 714 tribes, 1100 dialects, 17000 islands, and 6 different religions, is preparing itself to move forward to the new world of digital era.

The digital era has affected almost every aspects of human’s lives. In the next upcoming years, perhaps there are no more things which are not digitalized.
